Positive Habits That Will Change Your Life

With 2022 in full flow, I’ve decided not to do resolutions but to make changes that will have a positive impact on my life. Positive habits are things that have a valuable effect on your physical or mental health, there are also certain things that can help you boost your life or stop you from succeeding.

While there’s no magic formula to achieving a wonderful life, there are positive habits we can implement to truly help us feel good in ourselves. Here are those positive habits you should be practising now to help bring a positive mindset to 2022.

Create a morning routine
An effective morning routine can boost your productivity from the get-go, it gives your day more structure allowing you to manage your stress levels. By going to sleep at a normal time and waking up at a consistent time will give you better sleep quality as well as improve your physical and mental health. When you wake up you should know what tasks you need to complete, giving you an organised schedule to work smarter and more successfully.

Hydrate!
Use a decent water bottle, and fill it first thing in the morning, keep an eye on the clock and take a sip every 10 minutes, or even set regular reminders on your phone to take a drink. Staying hydrated has a range of health benefits and honestly, you really do feel the difference. If you don’t like the taste of water, experiment with sliced fruit like strawberries, cucumber or lemon for added flavour.

Set 3 daily priority tasks
Having 3 top priority tasks a day can help you be the most productive with your time. If you have a huge list of tasks, this will often be overwhelming and lead you to procrastinate rather than ticking things off that list. When you have achieved even one of those three tasks you are in the mindset of being able to achieve more. Even if you don’t feel like you’ve had a productive day, you can still feel like you have accomplished something.

Exercise
I’m not saying you have to go to the gym every day of the week, but there is an exercise out there to suit everyone, from taking a short walk, doing the housework, yoga or even a workout video. It doesn’t have to be a 5-mile run every day but taking the simple steps to exercise 3-4 days a week can improve your physical health, mental health and your sleeping patterns. Exercise is a vital part of self-care, but incorporating exercise just once a week can be a huge positive change to your life.

Laugh every day
Watch your favourite TV show each night, watch a funny comedy once a week, scroll the hours and hours of TikTok videos, tell jokes to a colleague. Whatever makes you laugh, do it, give yourself some time to do it each day. Life is too short to not be smiling, especially after the last two years, I think many of us could do with more laughter and joy in our lives.

And the most important point – Look after yourself
Making yourself a priority is vital, it is something I am going to take a lot of time to myself in 2022. Self-care can boost your mental health and physical health; you only have one life but you need to remember to look after yourself as well. Set aside time each week to do something that makes you happy, make sure you are eating well and getting enough sleep.

I hope this helps to boost your motivation and gives you some ideas of the positive habits that can change your life. I’d like to wish everyone the best for 2022, let’s not compare it to previous years, let’s just enjoy the moments we have with loved ones and the memories we make.

  1. It’s so astonishing that 2021 was the year I realized all your tips were important. Why did it take me so long to realize I wasn’t taking care of my body and mind?? The morning routine and hydrating were the big ones for me
