Christmas Movies to watch This Christmas

I love everything about Christmas. My preparations for Christmas season begin with watching Christmas movies.

However, It is now only a couple of days before Christmas and I have already watched a fair amount over the last week or two!

Watching fabulously Christmassy movies makes you feel better instantly, so I thought I’d share my favourite ones. I hope you enjoy these Christmas movies as much as I do!

The Holiday

Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman; across the pond, Amanda realises the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday.

Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing they expect: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris’ brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.

Home Alone 2

Once again, it is Christmas time, the McCallister family is planning another vacation, this time they are bound to go to Miami, Florida. Unfortunately, Kevin gets separates from the rest of his family and ends up in New York City.

Kevin realises that he will not only be alone in a big city, having a luxury suite at the Plaza, he will also reunite with his rivals Harry Lime and Marv Merchants.

Last Christmas

Last Christmas came out in 2019 but it is definitely one to watch. I must say you need tissues, for laughter and for tears. Kate trundles around London, full of bad decisions accompanied by the jangle of bells on her shoes, another irritating consequence from her job as an elf in a Christmas shop. Tom, a surprising encounter, seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate’s barriers.

As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, the magic is in the air, but will Kate and Tom have a fairy-tale ending. But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart . . . and you gotta have faith.

Arthur Christmas

Arthur Christmas reveals the incredible answer to every child’s question: ‘So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?’ The answer: Santa’s exhilarating, high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole.

At the heart of the film is a story with the ingredients of a Christmas classic – a family in a state of dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission which must be completed before Christmas morning.

White Christmas

Former soldiers Bob and Phil are starting a new career as nightclub entertainers. They try to boost the popularity of their old commanding officer’s struggling winter resort in Vermont.

They stage a series of extravagant shows, with a little help from their former army buddies and a talented singing sister act, The Haynes Sisters. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General on Christmas Eve.

Have you seen these Christmas movies? If so let me know what you think of these in the comments below!

  1. Hi Rachel. How refreshing to see a Christmas movie post that doesn’t include that cringe-fest Elf! Thank you 🙂 My wife loves White Christmas nearly as much as It’s a Wonderful Life, so I’ve seen that a few times. I haven’t seen Last Christmas so may have to mention that to the chief Christmas film viewer 😉
